DFB National Conference in Nürnberg in 2013
  • Premiere at NürnbergMesse
  • First DFB National Conference in the Franconian metropolis
The 41st Ordinary National Conference of the German Football Association (DFB) takes place in the NürnbergConvention Center on 24–25 October 2013. This will be the first time the three-yearly conference is held in Nürnberg. The DFB National Conference is the highest body of the German Football Association and is practically the parliament for football. The DFB National Conference in Nürnberg is the first under the new President, Wolfgang Niersbach.

Europe is currently focused on football. The people of Nürnberg also excitedly support the German team, of course, but the city and the whole Nürnberg Metropolitan Region lives for football all year round: Nürnberg is the home of 1. FC Nürnberg, the glorious old-established club. The “club” has won the DFB Cup four times, the last time in 2007, and is still vice-champion for the number of German league championships won. The Spielvereinigung Greuther Fürth team from the Franconian capital’s neighbouring city has also just been promoted to the premiere league.

“Nürnberg is and remains a football stronghold. So it obviously fits excellently into the picture that this very important event for German football will take place here in the Franconian metropolis,” say the delighted Managing Directors of NürnbergMesse, Dr. Roland Fleck and Peter Ottmann, commenting on the signing of the contract.

DFB President in Nürnberg

In the run-up to signing the contract, DFB President Wolfgang Niersbach visited the NCC Ost Convention Center accompanied by the Managing Director of NürnbergMesse, Dr. Roland Fleck. “The Convention Center in Nürnberg completely matches our needs and is outstandingly suited for this so important event for us,” confirmed the DFB President. The congress centre opened in 2005 offers space for 3,300 people – and is aptly located in the direct vicinity of the 1. FCN stadium, which was also one of the showplaces for the FIFA World Cup in Germany in 2006.

NCC Ost had already accommodated high-ranking representatives of the sport at the International Trainer Congress (ITK) in 2007. Some 800 trainers and 47 guests from 24 countries met at the congress, which the Bundesverband Deutscher Fußball-Lehrer (BDFL – Association of German Football Teachers) described at that time as “of the highest standard”.
