People celebrate anniversary in hall with “50” displays

We recognise the individual in each of our employees: We offer targeted programmes to promote the health, social welfare and work-life balance of our employees.

Fit in Balance: Sustainable health promotion
Health is not a state that one achieves once and for all. Rather, it is an ongoing process requiring mindful actions and conscious decisions in our everyday lives. With our “Fit in Balance” programme, which we offer in collaboration with our partner smilingfit, we have created an environment in which our employees can consciously lead a lifestyle that supports good health every day of the week.

The programme offers a variety of ways, including movement classes, physically active breaks, nutrition tips and mental exercises to help our people stay healthy and mindful at work. We also offer an on-demand platform which employees can utilise whenever and wherever they want. The programme is supplemented by workshops, presentations and coaching sessions – also for managers. All these formats are offered during work hours and are open to all. Besides keeping us physically fit, regular exercise also strengthens mental resilience, concentration and team spirit. Health is a collective endeavour. And at NürnbergMesse, it's an integral part of a sustainable corporate culture.

Work-life balance: Working to the rhythm of life
We design work to fit life. With programmes such as flexitime, personalized part-time models and remote work – including up to 20 days a year in a EU country besides Germany –, we offer flexible models to suit the different life phases of our employees.

Our corporate culture is based on trust. When our work and our private life are balanced, we tackle our work with more energy, fresh ideas and joy. That is why we help our people find child care, elder care, holiday programmes and nursing care. As a member of the public-private partnership “Familienpakt Bayern”, NürnbergMesse is committed to providing an environment in which work and family are compatible. More flexibility at work fosters personal well-being; and that's what matters in the long run!

Besides innovative products, we also present successful career paths

Sustainable career opportunities from trainee programmes to dual study programmes

A well-qualified, diverse and dedicated staff is the key to the company's sustainable success. That is why we make targeted investments in vocational training and continuing education – from the first employee orientation sessions to long-term career development at our company.

NürnbergMesse GmbH had 32 vocational trainees, 14 dual study trainees and 11 in-house trainees in 2024. We secure the future of our company with nine vocational training programmes, three dual study-programmes and one inhouse trainee programme. We strive to offer permanent positions to at least 80 % of our trainees. Many former vocational trainees and dual study trainees have since pursued longer-term career paths at our company, some of them in senior management positions. Besides ensuring continuity, this approach also nurtures a corporate culture that grows from within.

We also upgrade the skills of our regular employees with targeted continuing education and career development programmes. Regular potential development meetings, new topics like “Agile Leadership” and “Resilience”, and an increasingly broad offering of continuing education courses in digital skills are clear expressions of our attitude towards learning: It's not a one-off step, but an ongoing process.

Making it easier to launch a career: Jump!
Since 2016, the “Jump” mentoring programme has provided targeted support to female talents to help them make their next career step. Experienced mentors provide personalized advice and support, share their experiences, and open doors to new career opportunities.

The programme was a true eye-opener for Phuong Anh Do: “Jump helped me see my own strengths more clearly – and discover new ones. The interaction between me and my mentor was incredibly valuable for me, both personally and professionally.” Today, she is Exhibition Director at FACHPACK. And Do's story is not atypical: More than 70 % of all programme participants have since taken positions involving higher levels of responsibility.

“Jump” bolsters self-confidence, creates visibility and builds valuable networks. “We were a truly diverse group. We all benefitted from the trustful relationships with our mentors”, Do says. The “Jump” programme fosters career development, and supports diversity. Step by step. Jump by jump.

Our Exhibition Centre is big, but there's no room for discrimination.
Through our Respect@NM initiative, we take a stand against any and all kinds of discrimination, exclusion and harassment – at our Exhibition Centre and in our day-to-day work.

A key element of our approach is the awareness concept we call “Is Luisa here?”, which has been put into practice at all our events since BIOFACH 2025. Anyone who feels uncomfortable or requires assistance can discreetly ask for help from trained personnel at the cloakroom, catering service or security service by speaking the code phrase “Is Luisa here?”. We also offer protected areas we call “Safer Spaces” to anyone who needs them. Posters placed throughout the Exhibition Centre make people aware of this programme.

The goal is to ensure a workplace and event environment in which boundaries are respected and tolerance is encouraged. After all, genuine encounters are only possible when everyone feels welcome and safe.
