Trade fair for Bollywood

India's media and entertainment market is experiencing rapid growth. The industry's leading players meet annually at the Asia's Broadcasting & Infotainment Show (A.B.I.S.) in Mumbai, organized by NürnbergMesse India.

Measured by the number of films produced (over 1,000 per year), the Indian film industry Bollywood has long since overtaken its US counterpart Hollywood. And the subcontinent is also on the fast track as a sustainable media market overall.

This is confirmed by the latest figures for India's media and entertainment sector: The industry was valued at €24.4 billion in 2024 and is expected to grow by 7.2 percent to around €26.4 billion this year. Average annual growth rates of almost 10 percent are forecast until 2030, making India one of the fastest-growing media markets in the world.

Technology meets creativity

A.B.I.S. is tapping into this momentum. The trade fair in Mumbai brings together technology and creativity in what is known as “India's digital decade,” with a special focus on digital media. Its growth of 17 percent in 2024 makes it the largest segment. Streaming (OTT), gaming, and visual effects (VFX) are the buzzwords of a new creative generation. They get the tools for their future storytelling from local technologists and industry leaders.

One person is holding a technical device and appears to be saying something about it, while the other two are listening and looking at the device. In the background, other visitors and booths with eye-catching lighting can be seen.

Three trade shows – one media ecosystem

In order to present the entire spectrum of the Indian media ecosystem, A.B.I.S. consists of three parallel trade fair blocks. The “Broadcast India Show” focuses on technical and operational aspects – cloud workflows, IP-based production, automation, and 5G-enabled transmission. It also provides exciting insights into the craft of professional editors, cameramen, and pioneers in the industry.

The Content India Show focuses on modern storytelling, monetization strategies, multi-platform distribution, and trends in regional and global markets. It is the creative center of the event, aimed at professionals in production and platform strategy.

The SCAT India Show focuses on efficiency for India's digital growth: it covers satellite, broadband, FTTH, and hybrid solutions, as well as AI-powered analytics for next-generation networks—a platform that primarily appeals to operators, technology providers, and service providers.

Numerous talents – growing global influence

To show the country's huge talent pool the way to India's media future, the current edition of A.B.I.S. invited India's leading media and entertainment experts to take the stage in its accompanying conference and workshop program. The highlight: the Post-Production World Conference South Asia (PPW) with practical sessions on AI-supported video editing, motion graphics, VFX, and workflows.

India's digital and media creative industries are well positioned for the future. More than 200,000 pieces of content produced annually underscore their growing global influence – and the trade fair in Mumbai proves itself year after year as the turbocharger of this development.

Four people – three men and one woman – are seated on a carpeted stage on wooden chairs with white upholstery in front of a large screen. In front of each of the four people is a small table with a round, white tabletop. The screen displays the headline “Rhythmic Odyssey: A Journey Through Melody and Movement” along with the names and roles of the panel participants and the NürnbergMesse logo. In the foreground, several people are seated in the audience on white chairs.
