The Future of Work: NXT74 as a New Meeting Point at NürnbergMesse

Open, connected, and designed for interaction: with the new employee center NXT74, NürnbergMesse is creating a working environment that goes far beyond traditional office structures. The building represents a new understanding of collaboration, flexibility, and corporate culture, making the brand promise “Hello Opportunities” tangible in physical space.

NXT74 is more than just a new office building – it is a spatial answer to the question of how work functions today and in the future. With its open structure, short distances, and diverse working environments, it becomes a central place for exchange, collaboration, and innovation across the exhibition grounds.

The concept was developed collaboratively with the teams from if5 anders arbeiten and if5 design. Planner Greta Pinčiūtė describes the project on behalf of the team: “Through the building’s design and layout, NXT74 creates an open and connecting office environment that invites people to exchange ideas, network, and work together on projects. At the same time, carefully integrated retreat areas provide space for focus and quiet.”

From traditional office to flexible working environment

At the core of NXT74 lies a work model fully aligned with modern requirements. Different zones – from traditional workstations to open team areas and networking spaces – allow employees to choose the most suitable environment depending on their task. The concept is based on activity‑based working combined with desk sharing. Employees decide where to work depending on their activity, supported by digital infrastructure for hybrid work.

For Greta Pinčiūtė, the conclusion is clear: “NXT74 is far more than just a building. It defines a new work culture. By introducing desk sharing and enabling employees to share both workspaces and the building’s offerings, this concept strengthens community, team spirit, and productivity.”

NXT74 creates spaces designed to actively foster collaboration and exchange.

This spatial openness directly influences day‑to‑day work: short distances and transparent structures encourage spontaneous interactions, accelerate coordination, and enable new forms of collaboration. The benefits are also visible from an operational perspective: “With NXT74, we have created an environment that actively supports how we work – from spontaneous exchanges to cross‑departmental collaboration,” says Gerald Weiß, Head of Facility at NürnbergMesse.

Brand and people at the center

With its new brand identity, NürnbergMesse places interaction, connection, and opportunity at the forefront. These ideas are consistently reflected in NXT74. Open structures, clear sightlines, and central meeting points create an atmosphere that actively encourages exchange.

The color concept also follows this principle: it serves both as a design element and a wayfinding system. “Inspirational Pink” represents movement, red stands for community, and orange connects to the existing brand world. Work areas themselves are designed more neutrally, with white, gray, and wood tones creating a calm and focused environment. The result is a balanced interaction between dynamic meeting areas and quiet work zones.

Above all, the focus lies on people. Ergonomic workstations, retreat areas, and diverse spatial options allow for both individual work and collaborative exchange. Greenery and shared spaces further enhance well‑being in everyday work.

A place for the future of work

In an increasingly hybrid working world, physical spaces are gaining renewed importance. Hybrid work is now an integral part of everyday life at NürnbergMesse, making spaces that actively promote interaction and collaboration even more valuable. NXT74 translates these requirements into a working environment that supports both flexible use and meaningful personal encounters.

Greta Pinčiūtė summarizes it succinctly: “Networking, knowledge sharing, and exchange – along with hybrid work models – are key factors for the working world of tomorrow. At the same time, we need places where people can come together, connect, and feel a sense of belonging. NXT74 offers exactly that.”

The result is a workspace that not only meets the demands of today but opens up new perspectives for the future – for collaboration, flexibility, and a modern, forward‑looking, interconnected working world.
