Inclusion through innovation: How AI is strengthening care

ConSozial 2025 showed how innovation and inclusion can shape the future together. Under the motto “Meeting point future! Inclusion through innovation,” the focus was on projects that noticeably improve everyday life. One of these was aura, the care monitoring system from Perspective Care GmbH – winner of the 2025 Social Innovation Award. The award is presented by an independent jury of experts in cooperation with the Bavarian State Ministry of Family, Labor, and Social Affairs.

What challenges caregivers most is rarely interpersonal contact, but rather the lack of time for it. This is exactly where aura comes in: AI-supported monitoring that detects movement patterns, fall or bedsore risks at an early stage and alerts in emergencies or abnormalities. Unobtrusive via a sensor on the wall – no wristband required. This creates space for what really matters: attention, human closeness, and care.

For the jury, the combination of technological progress and noticeable relief was decisive. “It was important to us that the award-winning innovation really makes a difference – that it's not just innovative, but offers a concrete solution to a social problem,” says Kristina Notz, jury member and head of the Social Entrepreneurship Academy and the Social Startup Hub Bavaria. “Aura has an impact on everyday life – for caregivers, relatives, and people who need support.”

Technology that enables care – awarded the Social Innovation Prize 2025.

Technology that enables care

The idea behind aura arose from a reality that has shaped care for years: more people in need of care, fewer skilled workers, and a daily routine that is almost impossible for many to cope with. “Yet technologies that can help have long been available: sensor technology and AI,” explains Fabian Höger, CEO of Perspective Care. “What is standard in industry and smart homes is lacking in care.”
This is exactly where aura comes in – not by generating more data, but by making situations easier to understand. The system recognizes restless movement patterns, reports abnormalities more reliably, and thus creates more orientation and security in everyday care.
The development was also driven by personal impressions, says Höger: “We were motivated above all by our own experiences – as relatives, as visitors, or directly at work in the healthcare sector. The more people we got to know in the care sector, the clearer it became: we want to change something here.”

Inclusion through innovation

What makes aura special is its impact on everyday life: less stress, less bureaucracy, more time for interaction. “Our goal is clear: we want to relieve the burden on caregivers and at the same time create more security – for everyone involved,” says Höger.
Feedback from the facilities shows how great the need is. “The feedback has been consistently positive,” says Höger. “We are also continuously developing the system together with our pilot customers.”
The prize money of €5,000 will therefore go directly into practical applications – into digital workstations such as routers or tablets that make everyday life noticeably easier. “In this way, we are creating support that goes beyond our system,” explains Höger.

For Kristina Notz, aura is also an example of real social progress: “Solutions like this are drivers of social change. They create new forms of collaboration, bring different actors together, and inspire others to take responsibility.”

Two men are staying side by side in a bright room in front of a large window with wooden frames and look into the camera. Brick facades and scaffolding can be seen outside. The person on the left is wearing a black hoodie, the person on the right a gray long-sleeved shirt. Both people have their hands in their pockets.

An award that highlights responsibility

The Social Innovation Award recognizes projects that demonstrate how technology can take responsibility. Perspective Care shows how this can be achieved: with an innovation that does not replace but rather supports – and thus makes care sustainable. “We create time for togetherness by automating bureaucratic tasks. We support inclusion through a more self-determined daily routine – without regular disruptions and checks,” says Höger.

ConSozial 2025 has made it clear how important spaces are for such ideas. And aura shows that the future is created where technology empowers people. Because the future is not created where digital systems dominate – but where they enable closeness, security, and participation. That's exactly where aura comes in. Today, tomorrow, and far beyond.
