Strong roots: GaLaBau to continue in Nuremberg until at least 2030

17. September 2020
  • BGL and NürnbergMesse pursue successful collaboration for the long term
  • Green light for next GaLaBau from 14 to 17 September 2022 with forward-looking themes of digitalization and e-mobility

NürnbergMesse and the Federal Association of Horticulture, Landscaping and Sports Facilities (Bundesverband Garten-, Landschafts- und Sportplatzbau, BGL) are sending out a strong signal in these unusual times by extending their collaboration for the two-yearly GaLaBau, the leading international trade fair for the planning, construction and maintenance of urban green and open spaces, sports fields, golf courses and playground design, to include a further five events. This means they will continue working together until at least 2030. “This long-term agreement is a strong signal and a major sign of confidence, especially in times like the present,” comment NürnbergMesse Group CEOs Peter Ottmann and Dr Roland Fleck. “We wish to thank our long-standing partner BGL, and will enthusiastically continue our positive collaboration to further develop the leading position GaLaBau enjoys.”

GaLaBau has been taking place at the NürnbergMesse venue since 1986. “The GaLaBau trade fair here in Nuremberg is a highly successful format,” observes BGL President Lutze von Wurmb. “Over the decades we have grown along with our partner, NürnbergMesse. Our wishes and plans for the future are taken into consideration, and our exhibitors and trade visitors know and appreciate this venue.”

Smaller gatherings for the green sector are planned for both the Exhibition Centre and online on the original dates scheduled for GaLaBau in September 2020. For example, BGL will hold its Congress in the Exhibition Centre, with due observance of the required hygiene precautions, of course. And a popular highlight at the venue must not be missed: the final – the German championship – for the Landscape Gardener Cup, the professional competition for trainees in garden design and landscaping, will take place in the Exhibition Centre Park, and will be transmitted live via social media channels. Registrations for the next GaLaBau at the Exhibition Centre Nuremberg in September 2022 will begin as early as March 2021. The forward-looking themes for the garden design and landscaping sector will include digitalization, e-mobility and climate protection.
