The way to the heart is through the stomach: Acquisition of Lehrieder bolsters event and exhibition catering business for NürnbergMesse

29. December 2020
  • From 1 January 2021, event and exhibition catering provider Lehrieder will be a wholly owned service subsidiary of NürnbergMesse
  • Exhibition company supports subsidiary and employees during the coronavirus crisis
  • Improved range and quality of service in catering at Nuremberg trade fair venue

Taking over the remaining 50 per cent shareholding in its subsidiary Lehrieder Catering-Party-Service GmbH & Co. KG and Lehrieder Verwaltungs GmbH from 1 January will give NürnbergMesse full control, bolstering its range of services in the specific area of event and exhibition catering. Expanding its shareholding in this way provides support for the catering specialist, which had been adversely affected by the coronavirus crisis, and will help to ensure its continued existence. René Lehrieder will depart from the three-member management team by mutual agreement with effect from 31 December 2020. Managing Directors Dr Nadine Cauers-Lehrieder and Bahne Beckmann will remain in place with equal authority and will continue to be responsible for the operational business of Lehrieder. NürnbergMesse Group CEO Dr Roland Fleck comments: “The acquisition of Lehrieder not only provides support to our subsidiary in difficult times, but also safeguards jobs that would have been threatened by an impending insolvency.” His fellow CEO Peter Ottmann adds: “Our objective is to bring the areas of Services and Catering even closer together and thus further improve the range and quality of services for our exhibitors and visitors at the Nuremberg trade fair venue.”

René Lehrieder, who wants to focus on event catering outside the exhibition venue in the future: "I am pleased with the good and amicable solution we have found. It is the right step in difficult times, securing the future of our family business."

Dr. Nadine Cauers-Lehrieder: "With the takeover, Lehrieder will be an integrated member of the NürnbergMesse Group in the future. We want to make the best possible use of these synergies to further expand our trade fair catering."
