NürnbergMesse Group: Thanos Panagoulias to Succeed Nikos Choudalakis at FORUM S.A. in Greece

2. December 2020
  • Nikolaos (“Nikos”) Choudalakis, Managing Director and founder of FORUM S.A., is handing over his life’s work after 32 successful years
  • Athanasios (“Thanos”) Panagoulias will succeed him at the head of FORUM S.A. in Athens on 1st December

Business means change: from 1 December, Thanos Panagoulias will be the new Managing Director at FORUM S.A. in Greece. Former Managing Director and founder Nikos Choudalakis will heed the call of age and retire from business operations; he will continue lending his experience and expertise to support the Greek market leader. NürnbergMesse Group CEO Dr Roland Fleck is looking forward to working with the subsidiary’s new head: “Thanos Panagoulias is taking over at the helm of our Greek subsidiary as a very experienced trade fair manager. He not only has an excellent network within his home market, but will contribute a great deal of expertise from companies that operate internationally.” Fleck’s joint CEO Peter Ottmann adds: “In Nikos, NürnbergMesse Group is losing FORUM’s founder, who has built the company steadily since 1988 to become the Number 1 in Greece. We want to thank him very warmly for his successful work, and are glad that he’ll support Thanos and remain closely associated with FORUM.”

Thanos Panagoulias has been working at FORUM for 14 years now, most recently as Commercial Director, and counts as the “right hand man” of company head Nikos Choudalakis, for whom he already stood in as interim Managing Director last summer. He has a great deal of experience in the international industry, and is considered highly knowledgeable about the Greek and international trade fair business. Thanos Panagoulias has close family ties to Nuremberg and knows the city and the German way of thinking very well – surely an advantage in working together in the future.

Departing Managing Director Nikos Choudalakis reached the age of 70 this year, and will be retiring from his management position on 30 November. What he’ll hand over to his successor is his life’s work – a successful exhibition company and management team.
