Trade fair as economic engine starts up again

27. September 2021
  • FACHPACK 2021: First trade fair at the Nuremberg Exhibition Centre after more than 19 months of forced break from Corona!
  • Around 800 exhibitors in seven exhibition halls are delighted with the restart of the exhibition industry
  • Economic engine NürnbergMesse: Hotel industry, gastronomy and tourism benefit again from exhibitions and congresses

Trade fairs and congresses are finally taking place again! Tomorrow, Tuesday, 28 September 2021, Europe's largest packaging trade fair FACHPACK will be the first attendance event to start in the Exhibition Centre Nuremberg since the outbreak of the Corona pandemic. Not only exhibitors and visitors, but also the hotel, catering and taxi industries, as well as tourism and the trade fair sector, and not least the 500 employees of NürnbergMesse, have been waiting for this moment for 19 months. For Albert Füracker, Bavarian Minister of Finance and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of NürnbergMesse, trade fairs are also part of a strong Bavaria: "Modern trade fairs, effective economic promotion, international reputation: NürnbergMesse is an important economic factor for the metropolitan region and the whole of Bavaria. Through no fault of its own, the Corona pandemic has also presented NürnbergMesse with the most severe challenges. I am pleased that the trade fair sector can finally start again with presence events and thus make the important and much missed personal exchange possible. The government of Bavaria continues to stand firmly by NürnbergMesse and the entire Bavarian economy." Nuremberg's Lord Mayor Marcus König also emphasised the importance of the exhibition company at a reception held by the city to mark the restart of the fair: "NürnbergMesse is of great importance to the city and region as an economic factor. The exhibition and congress business is an important building block for securing the economic future of the city and metropolitan region of Nuremberg".

The kick-off for the first events in the Exhibition Centre Nuremberg since the Corona pandemic will be the European trade fair for packaging, technology and processes, FACHPACK, from 28 to 30 September. "Together with our customers, we are looking forward to the live experience of trade fairs and congresses on site. FACHPACK as Europe's largest packaging exhibition not only marks the new start of our real trade fairs after Corona, it also sends a future-oriented signal with its leading theme 'environmentally compatible packaging'," says NürnbergMesse CEO Peter Ottmann.

Exhibitions and congresses back in Nuremberg

FACHPACK is followed by trade fairs such as it-sa, Europe's largest trade fair for IT security, HOGA, FeuerTrutz, ConSozial, Kommunale and SPS, as well as consumer fairs such as Consumenta and Retro Classics. Exhibitors and visitors can look forward to more than 30 events from the portfolio of the NürnbergMesse Group worldwide until the end of the year, 15 of them in Nuremberg. "We are pleased that with the restart of the exhibition we can finally be the strong economic engine for the city and metropolitan region of Nuremberg again and offer our exhibitors and visitors the so important platforms for their business success. For our employees, too, the long period of digital long-distance relations is now over again and we can concentrate in the exhibition centre on what we do best: Inspiring customers!", says Dr Roland Fleck, CEO NürnbergMesse Group.
